Prof. Sabine Breitsameter
the director of the Master´s program International Media Cultural Work, is an award winning producer, curator and festival director with almost three decades of practical experience in the media industry. She has been jury member of various important media art prizes, e.g. Prix Ars Electronica and Deutscher Hörbuchpreis. Her work focuses on media art, listening culture and cultures of perception, experimental audiomedia, media history, media ecology, acoustic ecology, trans- and interculturality.
Since 2006 she teaches and researches as a professor for Sound and Media Culture at the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. She is director of the Soundscape & Environmental Media Lab and 3D Audio Lab (founded in 2009), and research director of the section “Artistic Research and Media Aesthetic Practice” at the media faculty´s research institute ikum (Institute for Communication and Media).
Within the TMCP project she teaches curatorial approaches, editorial and publishing practices and public relations. Her electives include media philosophy and theory, media art history, and VR audio/3D audio.
Sabine Breitsameter was elected into the presidium of the Hessian Film and Media Academy hFMA. She, too, is an appointed member of the German Music Board (Deutscher Musikrat).
